My neighbor convinced me to start with Python instead of JavaScript
He sat me down at his kitchen table and showed me how the same loop worked in both languages - Python just clicked in my head. Have any of you had someone change your mind about a first language?

Your neighbor gave you good advice. Python's syntax is way more forgiving when you're still getting the hang of loops and variables, so you spend less time fighting the language and more time actually learning. Stick with it for a month and you'll be miles ahead of someone wrestling with JavaScript's curly braces.

Totally feel you on that. Invisible rules are the worst.

I actually kinda disagree @tylerj22... JavaScript's curly braces trip you up for like a week but then you get it. Python's indentation rules mess with your head way longer because they're invisible and one wrong space breaks everything. I dunno, maybe I'm just weird but fighting with braces taught me more about how code actually works.
