Update: I thought those 'learn to code in 30 days' ads were all fake

I kept seeing ads for a free Python course from a site called CodeCamp, and I was sure it was a trick to get my credit card. My friend in Seattle said she finished it, so I gave it a shot last month. I did the first project, a number guessing game, and it actually worked! Now I'm three weeks in and building a simple website. Has anyone else found a free resource that actually delivered what it promised?

Those free courses are basically just ads for their paid stuff later. You'll hit a wall after the basics and have to pay up anyway.

My experience has been a bit different. I used a free JavaScript course from another site and never got a single sales pitch. The key is finding the ones made by non-profit groups or universities. They often have full beginner tracks without any paywalls at all.

Yeah I had that happen with a different site too... I just kept looking and found a full video series on YouTube that went all the way to advanced topics. The guy just did it for fun so there was nothing to buy later.
