Grinder jammed on a Monday morning at my office in Austin
I was at my desk at 7:30 AM with a fresh bag of beans from Third Coast Roasters, ready to make my first pour over. The grinder just locked up halfway through, grinding gear sounds and no coffee coming out. I ended up smashing the beans with a rolling pin on a cutting board in the break room - got some weird looks but the coffee actually was not that bad. Has anyone else had a grinder die on them at the worst possible time?

Did you try just chewing the beans whole and washing them down with hot water?

My aunt actually tried that once with some fancy Ethiopian beans and she ended up with a stomach ache for THREE DAYS. The whole beans don't dissolve or anything, they just sit there like gravel in your gut. You basically end up swallowing little rocks that expand when they hit the warm water. I can't believe anyone would even suggest that unless they were joking. That sounds like a great way to choke or get some kind of intestinal blockage honestly.
