Just realized my local roaster charges 40% more per bag than the grocery store stuff
I was looking at my receipts from last month at Blue Bottle in Austin and compared it to the Starbucks beans I grabbed on sale, and the difference in price per pound was way bigger than I expected, like $8 more for the fancy stuff, so has anyone else found that the cheaper beans actually taste fine after a week of drinking them?

idk man, are you actually tasting the difference or just feeling like you should? I grabbed some of that cheap H‑E‑B brand whole bean last month and honestly couldn't tell it apart from the $22 bag I got at Cuvee on South Lamar. What roast level are you comparing?

Roast level makes a big difference. Stick to medium or dark roasts from cheaper brands, that's where the savings are. Light roasts really do need better beans to taste like anything.

Wait, you seriously couldn't tell the difference between H-E-B brand and Cuvee's $22 bag? That's wild to me. I've had that H-E-B whole bean before and it tasted flat and a little burnt even on a dark roast setting. Cuvee's stuff always has way more flavor depth no matter what roast I pick.
