Swapped my auto-drip for a French press at 6am, now I actually taste the beans
I used to just set the Mr. Coffee and walk away, but after a trip to Seattle last spring I tried a press at a tiny shop near Pike Place. Now I grind 22 grams fresh and steep for 4 minutes before work. The difference is huge, but I still miss the set-it-and-forget-it mornings. Anyone else make the switch and then go back on lazy days?

Man the french press rabbit hole is real. I switched last year and now my old drip machine tastes like hot dishwater to me. But here's the thing nobody talks about, the cleanup. That metal screen and the sludge at the bottom of the mug. I actually started saving the grounds and dumping them in my garden, the tomatoes went crazy. So in a way the extra work pays off twice, better coffee and better veggies. Still, on days I gotta roll out before sunrise I'll just pour hot water over a teabag and call it a day. No shame in that.
