Took me 6 months to realize my grinder was the issue, not my pour over technique
I spent half a year chasing the perfect V60 brew, changing water temp, grind size, and pour pattern almost every week. Turned out my $40 blade grinder was giving me uneven grounds the whole time. Switched to a $100 burr grinder last month and my coffee tastes way better with the exact same method. Kinda annoyed I didn't figure it out sooner, but at least now I know. Has anyone else gone way too long blaming their own skills when the gear was the real problem?

Dude, same here. Wasted months on a blade grinder.

Cracked me up reading this because I literally did the same thing. Thought I was being smart getting a cheap blade grinder and ended up with coffee dust and inconsistent brews for like six months. My morning pour overs were basically a gamble on whether the grounds would be chunky or powdery. Finally caved and got a burr grinder and wow, what a difference it makes.

The 70 dollar blade grinder I bought before I knew anything about coffee actually had a plastic lid that would pop off mid grind, sending chunks flying across the kitchen. @hannahsingh it's wild how we all convince ourselves the cheap route will work, but the burr grinder upgrade honestly changed my whole morning routine. The consistency alone made me stop hating my pour overs and actually look forward to them.
