Used a blade grinder for 3 years before my brother made one pour over that wrecked me
My brother stayed with me in Denver two months ago and brought his hand grinder along with his beans. He made one cup on my kitchen counter and I watched the water come out even instead of in bursts like mine always did. I asked what he changed and he just pointed at my $20 blade grinder sitting next to the sink. Turns out those spinning blades chop the beans into a mix of powder and boulders, so hot water races through the dust and barely touches the chunks. I grabbed a $45 hand grinder the next day and the same beans I had been drinking for months suddenly tasted like actual coffee. My old grinder is now a spice grinder and honestly it does a better job at that anyway. Anyone here keep a blade grinder around for anything besides regret?
