A quiet corner in a Chicago cafe finally got me to stop staring at my phone
For years, I'd just grab my coffee and scroll on my phone the whole time... it felt like a waste. Last Tuesday at The Wormhole, I left my phone in my bag on purpose. I watched a couple quietly play chess for an hour, and the barista remembered my name. It was just... nice. Anyone else try to unplug like that in a busy spot?

That's actually a solid way to notice the little background music of a place. You start picking up on the whole vibe, not just your own bubble. It's wild how much social glue we miss when we're glued to a screen. Like, you probably would've never caught that chess game or the barista's pattern. Makes the spot feel real, not just a backdrop. Kinda turns a coffee run into a tiny bit of people watching, in a good way.

My local grocery store has a guy who always hums the Jeopardy theme while picking avocados. You start seeing these little scripts everywhere.
