Found a hidden gem coffee shop in Portland that roasts their own beans on site

Last Tuesday I stumbled into this tiny place called Red Brick Roasters off a side street in Portland. I was just looking for somewhere to charge my phone but the smell hit me as soon as I walked in. The barista actually invited me behind the counter to see their roasting setup, which is just a vintage drum roaster from the 80s. She let me sample three different single origins right off the cooling tray, which blew my mind. A regular sitting at the counter overheard me asking about brewing methods and ended up spending 20 minutes showing me his pour over technique. I swear I learned more about coffee in that hour than in the last two years of watching YouTube videos. Has anyone else found a spot that just changes how you think about coffee?

Burned dirt usually means they just roasted the hell out of cheap beans.

That sounds like a glorified coffee show more than good coffee.

Yeah, you know a buddy of mine went to one of those fancy places and said the barista spent 10 minutes explaining the origin of the beans before pouring. He took one sip and it tasted like burnt dirt.
