Had the weirdest three days at that coffee shop on Elm Street last week
I work from Brew & Bean on Elm Street like three times a week, but last Tuesday through Thursday was just strange. On Tuesday this guy sat at my usual spot and ordered a cortado, then tipped the barista $50 because she remembered his name. Then Wednesday the power went out for 2 hours and nobody left, we all just sat there in the dark talking. Has anyone else had a coffee shop week that felt like it was scripted?

Hold up, gotta play the other side here. You're basically describing a dream scenario for most people. A random guy throwing a $50 tip because the barista was nice? That's just a good human moment, not some weird conspiracy. And sitting in the dark talking with strangers for 2 hours sounds like the most chill, unplanned social thing ever. Sounds like you got a free mini retreat from your normal routine. Maybe it's not scripted, maybe you just had a genuinely good week and your brain is looking for drama where there is none. Not everything weird has to be a sign of something spooky.

Wait, so you're telling me that if I just buy a random stranger a coffee and sit in total darkness with them for two hours, I'm not part of some elaborate social experiment? Because I literally tried that last week and all I got was a weird look and the barista asking if I needed help finding the exit. Maybe your version of a "chill unplanned social thing" is just having way better luck with strangers than the rest of us. But hey, if you ever see a guy in a beanie sitting alone in a dark corner with two coffees and a fifty dollar bill, that's probably me trying to replicate whatever magical week you're describing.
