Hot take: Should the barista fix your drink or should you just deal with it?
Last Tuesday at a busy spot in Portland, my latte came out lukewarm after I specifically asked for extra hot. I stood there wondering if I should say something or just drink it and leave. What do you all do when your order gets messed up at a coffee shop?

Man, this takes me back to a time I ordered a black cold brew and the barista handed me a caramel frappe thing with whip cream on top. I just stood there staring at it like a confused animal lol. My buddy who was with me grabbed it and chugged it before I could even say anything, then he complained it was too sweet for him. Honestly, the whole situation was so chaotic I just ended up asking for a refund and going next door to a donut shop instead. So yeah, I say speak up if it's a simple fix, but sometimes the universe is telling you to grab a donut and move on.

@eric_knight7 your story about the cold brew mix up cracked me up, that buddy of yours sounds like a real character. In my experience, it really depends on the barista's vibe and how busy they are. I was in a similar spot a few months back where I ordered an oat milk latte and got whole milk instead, I just politely said "hey, I'm sorry but I asked for oat milk" and the barista offered to remake it no problem. Your mileage may vary though, sometimes if the place is slammed and it's just a temp issue like your lukewarm drink, I'll sip it anyway rather than add to their stress. If it's a simple swap like milk type or a syrup, I always speak up because that's a bigger miss than just heat level. Take this with a grain of salt but I find that a friendly tone and a smile goes a long way, baristas are people too and most want you to enjoy your drink.
