I was dead set against tablet ordering systems in cafes until one bad morning changed my mind.

I always thought those tablets at the counter were just a way for shops to cut staff and kill the whole coffee shop vibe. The place I go to in Austin, Texas, has this little setup where you order on a screen and they bring it to you. I rolled my eyes at it for like 6 months. Then one Tuesday morning, I walked in with a killer migraine and forgot my glasses. The barista was slammed, the line was out the door, and I could barely read the menu board. I tapped through that screen in 30 seconds flat, paid with my phone, and had my cold brew in hand without having to shout over the noise. It wasn't about being lazy or antisocial. It was about getting exactly what I needed when I couldn't even form a sentence. Has anyone else come around to these after hating them?

That Tuesday sounds rough, and I'm glad you found something that worked when you needed it most. It's funny how we build up these opinions about things until real life hands us a situation that makes us rethink everything. I've had a few of those moments myself where convenience won out over principle when I least expected it.

Yeah "convenience won out over principle" hits hard. It's like society keeps pushing us to pick fast and easy over what feels right.

Oh man, @rubyshah you nailed it. It's like we all have this idea of how we're gonna be the perfect principled person until life smacks us in the face with a real choice. I remember last year I was dead set against using those meal delivery kits because of all the packaging waste, just hated the idea. Then I got stuck working double shifts for two weeks straight and I was so tired I couldn't even chop a carrot. I caved and ordered one of those kits and honestly, it felt like a betrayal of everything I believed in, but man did it save my sanity. Have you ever had one of those moments where you just had to set your ideals aside to get through the week?
