Just realized the barista at my local shop remembers my usual order from six months ago
I stopped by Brew & Bean in Portland last Tuesday after not going there since last spring, and the barista handed me my usual oat latte before I even said a word. She said she recognized my order because I always asked for it with an extra shot and a splash of vanilla, which I hadn't even remembered myself. Has anyone else had a coffee shop worker remember a small detail about you that made you feel oddly seen?

The "poured his usual IPA before he sat down" thing hits different. That's not just remembering an order, that's timing and instinct kicking in. Sounds like the bartender saw him walk in the door and knew exactly what he was about. That kind of stuff makes you realize how much these service people actually pay attention to the regulars even when we don't notice. It's almost like they build a mental log of your habits without you ever asking. Makes you wonder what other little details they catch that we'd never guess.
