Overheard a barista say something about pour-over ratios that just clicked
I was sitting at The Grindhouse in Portland last Tuesday morning, half listening to two baristas argue about coffee scales. One of them said "it's not about grams, it's about how the water flows through." And I realized I'd been obsessing over the wrong thing in my own life - I keep trying to measure everything perfectly instead of just paying attention to how things actually happen. Made me think about how I micromanage my team at work when I should just watch the workflow. Has anyone else had a random comment from a stranger totally flip your thinking about something?

The grindhouse in Portland is actually where I started getting into pour overs too.

Heard that same thing there last week @julia549, but precise measurements won't fix bad habits either.

Respectfully disagree, sometimes precise measurements prevent disaster when chaos takes over.
