Rant: that fancy latte art trend is killing actual coffee taste
I got dragged to this hipster shop in Portland last month and watched the barista spend a solid 3 minutes making a rosetta in my foam. My drink was lukewarm by the time I got it. The whole thing tasted burnt and bitter because they used some over-roasted bean that's easier to get patterns in. I started just ordering black drip coffee at those places instead and suddenly I actually enjoyed what I was drinking. The barista looked annoyed when I said no to the art, like I was insulting their craft. Am I the only one who thinks all that decoration is just a distraction from bad coffee? Has anyone else started skipping the fancy drinks because the basics taste better?

Dude literally took longer on the foam than my last relationship lasted.

Took longer on the foam than my last relationship lasted" ha that's brutal but fair. The thing is when I moved to Portland I had a barista take like 8 minutes on a swan and I just stood there watching my coffee get cold. It looked incredible but I was too annoyed to even enjoy it.

Barista looked annoyed when I said no to the art" yeah because you basically told them their whole job is pointless. I get that bad coffee exists but good latte art is made with properly steamed milk which actually makes the drink taste better, not worse. Maybe you just don't like milk drinks?
