Still not sorry about the macchiato order last Thursday
I get that some folks see sugar packets being torn open as a crime against Italian tradition, but the 3pm crowd at Java Point in Portland has been judging me for years. I asked for a caramel macchiato, extra drizzle, and the barista rolled her eyes before I even finished. Last Thursday, a guy behind me actually sighed loud enough for everyone to hear. Look, I was at the airport in Denver 3 years ago and had the most honest version of this drink served by a dude named Marco, he put two sugars in his own and called it a family recipe. The people gatekeeping coffee make it hard for newcomers to just enjoy what they like. Does anyone else get weird looks for ordering non traditional drinks at a local shop?
