The barista at the place on 5th drew a little map on my cup and I still think about it
I was at this small cafe near the library in Spokane about 3 weeks ago, kind of stressed, waiting on a callback about a job deposit that was 2 days late. The woman behind the counter, I never got her name, noticed I kept checking my phone and just asked if I was okay. I said something about waiting on money and she nodded, then when she handed me my coffee she had drawn this tiny map on the lid, like a little path with an X at the end and the words "it gets there." Sounds dumb writing it out, but I sat down by the window and just stared at it for a while. I'm not really a coffee shop guy, I usually grab and go, but I stayed almost 40 minutes that morning. The callback came through that afternoon, and the first thing I did was keep the lid instead of tossing it in the trash. So now I'm curious, has a stranger at a counter ever done some small thing that stuck with you way longer than it should have?
That is such a sweet story, and honestly keeping the lid makes total sense (I would've done the same thing). It's wild how a tiny doodle from someone who doesn't even know you can land right when you need it most.
