The barista called my order a 'waste of espresso' and I had to rethink my whole drink

After he told me my 16 ounce latte with six shots was just bitter milk water, I switched to a proper 8 ounce with two shots and now I actually taste the beans from the shop on 3rd street, has anyone else had a barista call them out like that?

Man, "waste of espresso" is pretty harsh but also like... who cares? It's coffee. You ordered what you liked, he made it, you paid for it. It's not like you're ruining his life or the art of espresso by adding a bunch of milk and shots. I mean yeah, six shots in 16 ounces is a lot of caffeine but it's your money and your stomach. The guy should just make the drink and move on, not give you a performance review about your taste. It's good you found something you like better now but acting like some random barista's opinion changed your whole coffee philosophy feels like a lot. Honestly, half the time these baristas are just burned out and grumpy, not some coffee guru.

Exactly, half the time it's just some guy having a bad day who wants to gatekeep coffee because he read a blog once. Your drink was fine, his opinion didn't matter.

Did the barista also suggest you start composting and learning to knit your own oat milk? Glad you found a drink that doesn't taste like a math problem though.
