The day a pigeon tried to join my coffee shop book club
So I'm at my usual spot, The Daily Grind on Pine Street, trying to read a book for my online club. It's a Tuesday, around 2 PM. This pigeon just walks right in the propped-open door, hops up on the empty chair across from me, and starts staring at my scone. I'm not kidding, it just sat there, tilting its head like it was reading the book jacket. The barista, a guy named Leo, comes over with a broom and does this slow-motion chase around the tables for a solid five minutes while the bird just struts around, totally calm. It finally flew out after pecking at a stray sugar packet. The whole place burst out laughing. Has anyone else had wildlife crash their quiet cafe time?

Honestly you gotta keep a napkin ready to cover your food. Those little dinosaurs have zero fear. Leo had the right idea with the broom but moving slow is key, they panic if you rush at them. Maybe it's just me but I've found if you ignore them completely they usually get bored and leave. Way better than causing a scene and having a bird flying into the espresso machine.

Reminds me of when a seagull stole my hot dog at Coney Island, pat_fisher24.

Covering my food just gives them a challenge.
