Tried the barista's trick for slow mornings, now I get a table by the window
There's this coffee shop in Austin where I always end up in the loud corner near the door because I show up around 8:30 on Saturdays. Last weekend the barista told me they have a quiet window table that opens at 7:05 exactly, right after the early commuter rush leaves. I figured it was nonsense, but I set an alarm and got there at 7:00, ordered a small drip, and sure enough that spot opened up five minutes later. Now I've done it three times in the last two weeks and I've only missed it once, when the guy ahead of me in line asked for a pour over that took forever. The trick is to stand near the counter with your cup ready, not sit in the waiting area, because the staff point you to it before anyone else notices. Anyone else have a specific time or weird habit that gets them the best seat in their usual shop?

Tuesday 7:12 at Blue Bottle, right as the morning rush thins out, I've grabbed that corner stool every time.
