Two guys arguing about tipping at the counter in Seattle
One said tipping culture is out of control and baristas get a real wage here. The other said even a dollar shows you value the craft. Made me put my phone down and just listen. Where do you stand on tipping for a simple drip coffee?

Yeah @torres.grant, that button tap guilt is real. Honestly just keep a few singles in your wallet for the shops that actually put in the work.

Value the craft" is a strong move for a drip coffee. I mean, I'm over here just trying to wake up, not judge an art show. I usually just hit the button on the screen and feel bad about it later.

My local shop started doing these single cup pour overs for three bucks. I watched the barista time it with her phone once, and she said the water has to be just off boiling. Tried it at home with my regular coffee and a cheap gooseneck kettle. That extra minute of pouring slowly makes a weirdly big difference, like it gets less bitter. Now I don't feel bad about the machine button on weekdays, but it's a nice weekend thing.
