Appreciation post: My local shop's owner just gave my kid his first free comic

Last Saturday at 'The Final Page' in Springfield, he handed my 7-year-old a copy of 'Super Dinosaur' after seeing him stare at the cover. Has your local store ever done something that simple to hook a new fan?

Love that so much. My old shop owner did the same with a 'Bone' trade for my niece. It creates a real memory that turns a kid into a lifelong customer. Those small gestures mean everything.

Yeah, it's the opposite of a trick. That free book is a tiny cost for a huge win, building real community trust. They're not just buying a customer, they're making a fan.

Ever think that was just a sales trick? I used to be pretty cynical about it. Seeing how stoked that kid was totally flipped my view on those small acts.
