Bought a $150 omnibus at a con, found a printing error that killed its value

Picked up the new Absolute Sandman at MegaCon last weekend, paid full price thinking I was getting a steal. Got home and the last 20 pages were blank, just white paper where the epilogue should be. Emailed the publisher and they said it was a 'known batch issue' but wouldn't replace it since I bought third party. Has anyone else gotten a bad print from a convention vendor, or am I stuck eating this cost?
