Finally hit 50 issues in my Silver Surfer run

I've been hunting down Silver Surfer comics for about 8 months now. Yesterday I finally got issue number 50 from a shop in Portland called Cosmic Collectibles. It's not a grail book or anything, just a beat up copy from 1989 that cost me 8 bucks. But it felt good to cross that milestone after digging through dollar bins and trade lists. The guy running the shop even threw in a free bag and board after I told him what I was doing. Anyone else get that weird satisfaction from hitting a round number on a run?

My 50th was a Doctor Strange missing the cover that some kid drew on.

Gotta love hitting that round number milestone even if the book looks like it was used as a coaster at a diner. My 50th issue was a battered copy of Iron Man 150 with a big pizza stain on the cover from some kid's lunch in 1981. I kept it anyway because it felt like a badge of honor for digging through all those bins. Congrats on the free bag and board, that's the real win right there.

Are you really calling a pizza stain on an Iron Man comic a badge of honor? Look, I get the nostalgia angle but at some point a beat up book is just a beat up book. That stain probably smells like a stale crust from 40 years ago. I've passed on plenty of "well loved" issues that looked like they went through a war zone, no matter how cheap they were. Free bag and board is nice and all but this whole "the rougher the better" thing feels like people trying too hard to justify their trash finds.
