Got schooled by a guy at my local shop about bagging comics

I used to just toss my new pulls into a plastic grocery bag and call it good. Then last Saturday at Cosmic Collectibles in Austin this older collector saw me doing it and nearly had a heart attack. He handed me a proper comic bag and board combo and showed me how to tape the flap without wrecking the cover. Does anyone else still see people treating their books like trash at the register?

Did you ever get one of those old cardboard long boxes that smell like a grandma's attic? I finally switched over to those and it made my books feel way more legit... plus you can fit a whole run in there without them getting smooshed.

Nearly had a heart attack" - honestly I'm surprised he didn't just grab the bags out of your hands and start screaming. I was at a con once and watched a guy slide his raw Silver Age books into a plastic grocery bag like he was packing lunch, the board guy next to me actually whispered "we need to intervene." Comic collectors are basically the golf dads of nerdom, we all think we're doing it wrong until some dude in a faded X-Men shirt shows up with the gospel of proper bagging.

$20 on a raw ASM 300 that I bagged upside down at a con, learned my lesson quick.
