Hot take: Saga is overrated and here is why I changed my mind

I used to think Saga was the greatest comic ever. Then I got to the part where they kill off a main character just for shock value around issue 42. I was sitting on my couch in Portland reading it and I literally threw the book down. The writing felt lazy after that. My buddy Mark said 'dude it is about the journey' but I just could not get back into it after 4 years of following the story. Anyone else have a comic they loved then suddenly hated?

...actually I used to defend Saga pretty hard but that issue 42 moment did hit different, once you see the trick you can't unsee it.

Actually, Anthony, I gotta gently push back on saying it was issue 42 that had the big death. I just checked my copies because I remembered it differently, and the main character dies in issue 54 (you know, the one with the time-skip and the robot head). I think 42 is where they fake out with a different character and it messes with people's memory of the timeline. Your buddy Mark was kinda right about the journey but that's a totally fair reaction to dropping it after four years.
