Picked the $3 back issue over the new #1 and it paid off weirdly

Was at my LCS in Austin last Saturday with like 12 bucks in my pocket. Had to choose between the shiny new relaunch of a big title or this beat up 1994 issue of a book I never heard of, some indie thing called Stray Bullets. Grabbed the old one on a whim. The art was scratchy and the story was about a kid stealing a bike, no capes at all. Now I can't stop thinking about it and I'm hunting down the whole run. Anyone else ever have a random dollar bin pick beat out their usual pull list?

Wait, you found a Stray Bullets issue in a dollar bin? That book is basically the holy grail of indie crime comics, I've seen people flip out over it at cons. The fact that it was just sitting there for three bucks in Austin is wild to me, that story about the bike is actually the start of one of the most messed up, beautiful arcs ever written. You accidentally tripped into a rabbit hole that goes like 40 issues deep, and every single one is worth hunting down. I did the same thing once with a random Hellblazer issue, ended up spending like 200 bucks on trades the next month. Enjoy the ride, because there is nothing else out there that hits quite like Amy Racecar does.
