Spilled a full latte on my Uncanny X-Men #266 at the shop reading table

Was flipping through it at Cosmic Comics on 3rd Street last Saturday and my elbow knocked over a venti latte right onto the cover, but the owner just shrugged and sold it to me for cover price since it was already damaged, has anyone else had a store cut you a break like that?

Gotta say I feel for you on this one. That's a rough break, especially with a book like Uncanny #266. I spilled a soda on my Infinity Gauntlet #1 once at a con and the guy still charged me cover price too, so I know that little sting of walking out with a damaged book you paid full price for. Honestly it sounds like the owner just didn't want to mess with it and you got stuck with the bill. Hope the rest of the book is still readable and the stain didn't hit the main art too bad.

You said "the owner just shrugged and sold it to me for cover price since it was already damaged" but honestly that sounds like he was just dumping a ruined book on you instead of taking the loss himself. I mean think about it he saved himself from having to write off damaged stock and you walked out with a beat up copy of a major key issue that's probably worth way more in good shape. You basically paid full price for something that's now trading at a huge discount on the resale market because of that big latte stain. The guy did you no favors he just passed his problem onto your wallet and made you feel grateful for it.
