That one Wednesday where every back issue I grabbed was a dollar bin gem

I hit up this shop in Toledo last week during their half off Wednesday sale and found a near mint copy of Watchmen #1 for 50 cents because the owner thought the cover was dirty. The whole stack I got for under 10 bucks ended up having like 200 bucks worth of value on eBay. Has anyone else had a random weekday haul that just totally made your week?

Ha I heard a guy found a Walking Dead #1 in a dollar bin once.

Yeah I gotta push back on that "heard a guy found" thing. Those kind of stories get passed around a lot but they're almost always missing the full picture. The guy who bought it probably knew exactly what he was looking for and the bin was mispriced by a clueless employee. Real dollar bin hunting is mostly junk, nobody is just stumbling on golden age gold like that without some serious luck or insider knowledge. It makes for a good story but it sets up new collectors for disappointment when they dig through 500 copies of X-Force #1 and come up empty. Have you actually seen any of those deals yourself or just heard them from a friend of a friend?
