The guy at the LCS who asked me to stop talking about Watchmen

I was at my local shop in Toledo last Saturday flipping through the new releases when this older guy next to me said I was ruining the comic for him by talking too much about the movie. He said the book stands on its own and I needed to shut up about Alan Moore. Has anyone else run into fans who hate comparing adaptations to the originals?

Just tell the guy you appreciate the book too and drop it for a bit... I've learned the hard way that some people just want to enjoy their hobby without all the extra chatter.

@ray_miller84 I've been there too, honestly. That "dropping it" part really hit home for me. Some people just need space with their interests and that's totally okay. I used to push conversations way too hard and it just made things awkward for everyone. Now I try to just say a quick "nice, glad you're into it" and move on. It's so much better than forcing a chat when the other person clearly wants quiet time with their hobby. You're spot on about learning these things the hard way.
