TIL that oversharing my fan theory at a local meetup totally killed the vibe.

I went deep on an obscure continuity point and everyone just stared awkwardly. How do you gauge when to bring up niche lore without derailing conversations?

Yeah it's like reading the room, which is a skill for everything, not just fan meetups. I see it at work when someone explains a printer problem in way too much detail during a quick coffee break. You notice the clues - people stop adding to the talk, they glance at their phones, their replies get super short. It's that shift from back-and-forth to a one-way info dump. Gotta watch for when the interested nods turn into just waiting for you to finish.

Totally, it's like christopherg97 said, just a basic life skill now.

Isn't it more about how you share than what you share?

Can you describe the moment you realized the conversation had shifted awkwardly?
