6 years of diving and I just learned my weight belt was way too loose

Was working a salvage job off Port Fourchon last month. Felt fine, been doing it the same way since I started. Then the supervisor comes over, grabs my belt and yanks it down about 2 inches. Said it should sit snug on my hips, not ride up. I always thought a little movement was normal. Next dive felt way more stable, less fighting to stay level. Has anyone else had a basic setup thing they just never questioned?

The belt was moving on you the whole time.

Specs are specs for a reason right? I had the same thing with my mask strap, wore it loose for years thinking it was more comfortable until a dive buddy pointed out it was leaking every time I turned my head. Tightened it up one notch and suddenly no more clearing my mask every thirty seconds. Makes you wonder what other little things we're just powering through when a quick adjustment would fix it.

Specs are specs for a reason" - I learned that the hard way too, @hugo_robinson25. Now I'm paranoid about every little adjustment and probably overtighten everything like a nervous wreck.
