Diving in the Gulf after 15 years, noticed the bottom is different now
Went back to a rig site off Port Fourchon last month, first time in that area since 2009. The current was the same but the visibility was maybe half of what I remembered, and the sandbars have shifted a lot. Saw more fishing line and old rope tangled in the structure than I ever did back then, had to cut through three snags just to get to the anode. It made me wonder if all the newer guys even know how the bottom used to look down there. Anyone else seeing big changes on old dive sites they've revisited after a long gap?

Reminds me of hitting a spot off Galveston in 2018 after a decade away, and the reef structure was basically buried under silt and old crab traps. It took three dives just to find the anchor chain I used to tie off to without thinking. Nature moves on even when we don't.
