Dove on a wreck off Key West last month - are new drysuits actually worth the upgrade or just marketing hype?

My old Viking suit finally gave out after 8 years, and I'm torn between dropping $3k on a new model versus patching this one up again. Anyone else feel like the newer materials don't hold up as well as the older gear?

Patching a 8 year old suit is just delaying the inevitable. The newer trilaminate stuff dries faster but it's more fragile than the old crushed neoprene. Spend the money if you dive a lot, otherwise just keep patching.

@brian_smith6 Sounds like my drysuit is in that awkward teenage phase where it costs money but won't talk back.

Eight years old and you're talking patches? That suit's held together with hope and goodwill at this point. Might as well start calling it the Frankenstein suit.
