Had to pick between Kirby vacuum parts or a new commercial diver's weight belt buckle
I waited six weeks for Kirby parts for my home vacuum because they said it would be faster than ordering from the factory, but the delivery guy showed up with the wrong size anyways while I was three days into a topside repair job. So I had to cancel the whole thing and just use my old Kirby beater bar that sounds like it's scraping gravel. Has anyone else dealt with these supplier mix-ups ruining a good weekend?

Started off thinking I was just unlucky with timing, but after the third time this year some supplier sent me the wrong part for a basic repair I realized it's a pattern not bad luck. The whole "we'll get it faster" thing is basically a lie companies tell you to keep your business while they shuffle inventory around behind the scenes. My Kirby almost ended up in the trash because I got so fed up with waiting for a simple belt that was supposed to take two days and took two weeks. Honestly it changed how I look at warranties and "authorized parts" now, complete scam if you ask me lmao. I just buy generic stuff off eBay whenever possible and accept the risk, at least I save my weekends that way.

Read somewhere that the whole authorized parts system is basically a protection racket for repair shops. They gatekeep the parts so you're stuck waiting on their timeline, meanwhile generic stuff works fine most of the time anyway.
