I tried a cheaper drysuit valve to save $200...
Picked up a knockoff valve off Amazon for my DUI drysuit thinking it would work fine for a few shallow harbor inspections around Portland... First dive to 40 feet and the thing started free-flowing air like crazy, had to abort the job.
Has anyone else had major failures from non-OEM parts on their gear?

Oh man, that's rough! It's like when I tried a cheaper off-brand phone charger and it literally melted my charging port (not a good look). People think they're saving money by skipping the official parts, but it's always a gamble that bites you in the wallet later. Diving gear especially, you really don't want to find out the hard way that your dump valve is gonna turn into a bubble machine at 40 feet.

Wow, a melted charging port? That's wild, @faith_thomas, I can't believe a charger did that kind of damage. I guess you're right though, some things you just don't skimp on.
