My best week diving was a total mess on the surface

We had a salvage job in the Gulf where the boat captain kept dropping us off-target. I spent 45 minutes just finding the wreck each dive. Anyone else think a bad topside crew can ruin even simple work?

Oh man, that sounds so frustrating. I've had days where the boat crew just can't hold position, and you're down there burning through your bottom time just doing a search pattern. It turns a straightforward job into a total puzzle, and you come up feeling like you did all the hard work for nothing. A good topside team is everything.

Remember my buddy's survey dive that got scrapped? The deckhand kept throwing the shot line right into a snag of old fishing nets.

It's wild how a simple mistake topside can wreck the whole dive plan. I've seen a dropped anchor chain get tangled in a wreck's superstructure, and suddenly the whole job shifts from mapping to a risky recovery op. That deckhand probably had no idea each throw was burying the line deeper. Makes you wonder if some basic cross-training would help the surface crew picture what's happening below.
