Shoutout to the old-timer who told me to try a different grease on my Kirby hat band

I was getting a slow leak for months, but after switching to that red silicone stuff he mentioned, the seal held tight for a full 8-hour shift yesterday. Anyone else have a go-to trick for keeping those bands pliable?

Oh man, that red silicone grease is a lifesaver. I fought with a dried-out band for way too long before someone at my supply house handed me a tube. The old petroleum stuff just turns to glue after a while. That silicone keeps it from cracking and doesn't seem to eat away at the rubber. Best five bucks I ever spent on maintenance.

Ugh, I learned that the hard way. I used the wrong grease for years and turned a perfectly good band into a crumbly mess. Now I just keep a tube of that red stuff in my bag.
