That feedback about my buoyancy trim changed my whole dive plan
An old timer on a Gulf of Mexico job told me I was fighting the current with my fins instead of using my weight belt. He had me drop 4 pounds and shift my tank strap, and suddenly I was hovering like a ghost. Has anyone else had a small adjustment like that totally alter how they work a bottom?

Feel that one hard. What was the water temp and how much lead were you running before the drop? Because I've seen guys carry an extra 8 pounds just because they're used to cold water gear, then they hop in warm and wonder why their legs are cramping from kicking all dive long. Also, did he adjust the tank strap high or low on your back? That little shift can make your whole center of gravity feel totally different, like going from a backpack to a backpack that's glued to your spine. It's wild how one small tweak can save your air and your back at the same time.
