The great debate: wet welding vs dry welding for underwater repairs

I mean, I've been doing wet welding for 5 years, but last month a guy in the Gulf argued dry welding is way stronger for structural stuff, so what's your pick when you gotta fix a piling in 30 feet of murky water and the pressure's on?

Oh man, wet welding in 30 feet of murky water is just a different beast! I've seen this same debate play out in like every trade I've dipped into. It's like choosing between a quick fix with a glue gun versus taking the time to clamp things properly. In the real world, I notice people rush wet welding because the pressure is literally on and you just want to get it done. But dry welding is like that patient friend who insists on measuring twice before cutting. For pilings I'd go dry if I could, but in murky water with time ticking, you take what works and hope it holds until the next inspection.
