Tried a different fin kick last week in 40 feet of silt

I switched from a flutter kick to a frog kick while doing pipeline inspection in the Gulf. Stirred up way less bottom debris and actually saved me from having to wait out zero visibility. Anybody else had your normal kick method cause problems on inshore work?

Honestly, that frog kick move is a game changer in nasty vis. I had a buddy who was doing a harbor cleanup job, and he kept using his normal flutter kick. He ended up blasting this cloud of silt right into his face mask, totally blind for a solid five minutes. He said he was just feeling around for the line like an idiot. He switched to a frog kick after that and never looked back.

And the thing nobody talks about is how flutter kick messes with your air consumption on top of the visibility stuff. When you're flailing away trying to push through silt, you're burning through your tank way faster because you're tensing up and fighting the water more than you need to. Frog kick lets you glide smoother, keeps your heart rate down, and that alone saved me from cutting a dive short more than once. Plus, if you're working a pipeline like that, less wasted movement means more time actually getting the job done instead of just surviving the conditions.

Wait, did your buddy ever figure out how to clear his mask after that silt cloud hit him?
