Tried a new way to clean my Kirby Morgan helmet lens in cold water.
Used a drop of baby shampoo on a microfiber cloth up in Ketchikan last week. It left a weird film that made everything look blurry. Anyone know a better trick for cold water cleaning?

Check if you rinsed it all the way off. Baby shampoo can leave a slick layer if you don't use a ton of water. What's your fresh water source up there, like a bucket on the boat or a hose on the dock? Maybe try a quick second wipe with just the wet cloth.

My old Catalina 27 had the same problem with baby shampoo. I switched to a vinegar and water mix, about one part white vinegar to ten parts fresh water. That film is gone now. The shampoo just never rinsed clean for me, even with a dock hose. The vinegar breaks down the salt without leaving any residue.
