Vent: Blew off the new mixed-gas cert as a gimmick, now I'm scrambling

I was dead set against paying $800 for that advanced trimix course last spring, figured it was just a money grab. Then a buddy of mine hung his downline wrong on a 120-foot wreck off Pensacola and watched his O2 tox symptoms creep in while I had no clue what to do. Has anyone else ignored a cert until a close call made them change their mind?

Hey that's the thing about saving a few hundred bucks. People will drive across town to save 10 cents on gas but won't think twice about their own safety. Always cracks me up when someone brags about getting a deal on something that could kill them. Guess the 800 bucks is worth more than their life to them. Poor decision making at its finest right there.
