Downtown bus audio upgrade went too far

Rode the 42 line through Austin yesterday and the driver had the station announcements blasting at max volume. Couldn't hear my own podcast over the "Next stop, MLK" loop. Three people got off early just to escape it. Is this a new city policy or did that driver just snap?

Bet you wouldn't be complaining if the bus was on fire and that same voice was telling you where to go. Loud announcements beat a silent death trap any day, and yeah, maybe we all need a little less podcast and a little more paying attention to where we're at. Sucks for your eardrums, but it's better than missing your stop and blaming the system later.
