Had a talk with a bus driver that made me completely change my morning route

I've been taking the 7:15 AM bus for like 2 years now, always hating how packed it gets. Last week the driver actually recognized me and said 'you know the 6:45 runs half empty and gets you downtown 10 minutes faster.' I just assumed the earlier one would be worse but I tried it Monday and he was right. There's only like 12 people on it and I get a seat every time. Now I'm wondering what else I've been doing wrong just out of habit. Has anyone else had a stranger just casually drop wisdom like that?

Hold up, is it really that deep though? You found a slightly less crowded bus, which is nice, but "wondering what else I've been doing wrong out of habit" feels a bit dramatic for a morning commute change. Like, yeah, maybe you should reconsider your coffee order or which grocery aisle you walk down first, but most of our routines are fine for a reason. Some habits exist because they work well enough, not because we're all secretly messing up our lives. The driver just gave you a simple traffic tip, not a life-altering revelation about the universe.

Sometimes a small change just makes you stop and think, that's all it is. Not everything has to be a huge life lesson to be worth noticing. Maybe it's dramatic, but it's not hurting anyone.

harpery47 I get what you're saying but I think you're underselling it a bit. Routines are how we get through the day without thinking, and when one of them gets busted open like that it does make you wonder what else you're just sleepwalking through. Like maybe it's not world changing but it's still a good little reminder to question stuff.
