I miss the old bus driver from route 42... he retired last June
That guy knew everyone's stop by heart and would wait if he saw you running. One morning I was like 3 blocks away and he literally honked and waved me on. Now I get this new driver who slams the doors shut the second the light turns green... even if people are still getting off. It's weird how one person leaving can change your whole daily vibe. Does anyone else have a driver or conductor they still think about from years ago?

Wait, candy canes at Christmas? That's a new level of dedication right there. @miles_roberts I had a driver on the 22 line who learned everybody's birthday and would sing a little jingle when he saw you on that day. It was a little awkward but also kind of sweet. Now I just get a grunt when I scan my pass.

he literally honked and waved me on" yeah that hit me right in the feels lol. I actually read somewhere that bus drivers who learn regulars' routines actually have better mental health and job satisfaction long term. Makes sense cause it's like having a little community. I still think about the old driver on the 7 line who used to bring candy canes around christmas. It's wild how somebody just doing their job can make your mornings way better or way worse depending on who it is.
