I noticed a huge difference in traffic after they fixed that light on 3rd Street
Honestly, for the last two years my commute was a nightmare because the traffic light at 3rd and Maple was timed so badly it would back up for three blocks every morning. Then six months ago they finally reprogrammed it, and now I get through that intersection in one cycle instead of waiting four minutes. Has anyone else seen a similar before-and-after change from a single traffic light fix in their town?

Contact the city traffic engineer directly, I did that for the light on 5th and it got fixed in two weeks once I had their email. Just be super specific about the timing issue, like how many seconds it stays green.

Just be super specific about the timing issue" - that's good advice. I actually tried that once with a light near my house that was impossibly short. I timed it with my phone stopwatch and everything, wrote down exactly 12 seconds. Felt like a real professional about it. Then I realized I had been sitting there for five minutes timing it and probably looked like a crazy person to anyone driving by. @jamesf41, I should have just taken your approach instead of being the weirdo with a stopwatch at the intersection.
