I was that person who always stood on the left side of the escalator for years
It just felt like the natural side to be on, you know? The tip off was a guy in a suit who sighed really loud behind me at the 14th Street station last Tuesday and said, 'Stand right, walk left, lady. It's the law.' I'd been blocking the walking lane for my whole 6 a.m. commute for probably a decade. Anyone else have a basic city rule they were totally clueless about for way too long?

I did the exact same thing with those grocery store conveyor belts. For years I'd just plop my basket down at the start of the belt, not separating my stuff from the person ahead of me. The cashier at my regular Trader Joe's finally had to tell me, after like three years of this, that you're supposed to put the divider stick down. I guess I just thought the next person would magically know where my order ended?

My buddy did that and someone's yogurt got mixed into his bill.

Honestly @miles_fisher, I wonder how many people just silently hated us for that...
