Just realized my Monday commute was weirdly great and I don't know how to feel about it
Last Monday my whole commute flipped upside down in the best way and I'm still confused about it. My usual route is 45 minutes of bumper to bumper on I-95 into Philly, and I leave at 7:10 every day like clockwork. But that Monday I left 20 minutes early by accident because my alarm was set wrong, and the highway was basically empty. I got to my parking garage in 22 minutes, which has never happened in the 3 years I've worked this job. Then the coffee cart guy, Marcus, gave me my usual for free because I was his first customer and he'd just brewed a fresh pot. On top of that, I ran into an old coworker on the platform who I hadn't seen since 2019 and we caught up the whole ride. It was one of those days where everything lined up and I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. Now I'm wondering, was it the earlier start time, or is Monday just secretly the best commute day and I've been sleeping on it? Has anyone else noticed a specific weekday that's way smoother than the rest?
I always wrote off Monday as the worst day and honestly thought Tuesday or Wednesday was the sweet spot. But my old job had a Monday start time that was earlier than other days and the roads were empty every single week, so I guess I had it backwards the whole time. Leaving 20 minutes early probably did most of the work here since you missed the 7:30 rush, but a free coffee and an old friend on top of that is just a good day. I'd try the early start again next Monday and see if it holds up or if it was a one time thing.
