Missed the ferry by 40 seconds and watched my whole morning spiral

I got to the Port Jefferson terminal at 7:52 for the 7:50 boat, ran up the ramp only to see them pull the gangplank. Sat in my car for 20 minutes watching the next ferry load, then realized I left my work badge in the bathroom at the diner across the street. I drove back, found it on the sink, and still made it to the city by 10 but was so frazzled I locked my keys inside the office supply closet. Has anyone else had one tiny delay domino into a full disaster before 9am?
